VishwaRaj is a 300-bed multi-speciality hospital serving patients, families, doctors, staff and vendors. While the hospital had a strong orange-and-navy identity and a Mind–Body–Soul philosophy, its internal signage and wayfinding needed more consistency and clarity.
The project introduced a unified wayfinding and space branding system using chakra-inspired floor colours, bilingual signage, simplified icons and reassuring environmental graphics.
Research revealed that:
Visitors frequently depended on staff for directions.
English medical terminology was difficult for many users.
Floor and department divisions were unclear.
Multiple service desks confused first-time visitors.
Some spaces felt functional but impersonal.
The brief called for a system that was simple, bilingual, elderly-friendly and emotionally reassuring.
The project brief aimed to improve hospital wayfinding and communication through a clear, accessible, and welcoming experience. It called for a unified visual language, a simple floor-colour system, clearer department names, and easy-to-recognise icons. The communication style needed to be friendly and empathetic, creating a warm, reassuring environment while maintaining clarity.
04 - THE PROJECT APPROACH
The project combined two priorities:
Usability
Clear visitor journeys
Simplified department information
Recognisable icons
Floor, wing and room identification
Brand Experience
Warm and reassuring communication
A culturally familiar visual language
Consistency across functional and patient-facing spaces
Colour became the link between navigation and brand experience.
05 - THE CONCEPT
Mind. Body. Soul.
VishwaRaj’s triquetra logo represents Mind, Body and Soul, forming the foundation of the hospital’s identity and approach to patient care. This philosophy was thoughtfully extended into the hospital environment through chakra-inspired colours, symbolic motifs and positive affirmations integrated across different spaces. By connecting wayfinding with themes of care, balance, wellbeing and healing, the design system helped create a more meaningful and reassuring experience for patients, visitors and staff alike.
The 7 Chakra Philosophy
The seven chakras became the emotional and cultural foundation for the visual system. Each chakra represents a different aspect of wellbeing, helping the graphics feel meaningful, familiar and reassuring.

Entrance Forecourt Branding
The entrance branding introduced the hospital’s visual language before visitors entered the building. Large-format graphics and clear messaging created a more welcoming arrival experience.

System Applications
The visual system was applied across wayfinding and environmental graphics to create a unified hospital experience. Signage, directories, banners, murals and digital displays followed the same colour-coded bilingual language.
Chakra motifs, wellness messages and nature-inspired graphics added warmth, making spaces clearer, more organised and more welcoming.
